Time: 2014-07-10 10:19:08     Author: Administrator

Officers of New Port Customs House (affiliated to Huangpou Customs District) said they had seized 743 discarded wireless chargers with a weight of 146.83 kilograms a few days ago.

Customs officers said days ago they had received a declaration for 1,890 wireless chargers to be imported as normal trade goods. However, they found out later during the inspection that 743 of the chargers were used ones that fell into the category of prohibited items.

These discarded wireless chargers contain lead, mercury and other heavy mental that will cause great damage to the environment. And if they are renewed, the defects of the “new” products may pose danger to the users’life. Customs officers, drawing on the experiences they have gained in the national campaign code-named “Green Fence”, will continue to take stern measures to fight against the smuggling of solid waste, especially “overseas wastes”.
